Summertime Refreshment

As the summer winds down, and as children return to school, the Jesuit Spiritual Center is wrapping up one of its most successful summer seasons ever. The recent Festival of Faith attracted over 600 people, many of whom had never been to the campus. Outstanding choirs and exceptional preaching by Jesuit Fathers John Ferone and Eric Knapp -- all in the great outdoors -- provided for a memorable and uplifting event. And in Youth Ministry, the summer has been alive with the sounds of children romping over the campus. Our new overnight iRetreats (the "i" standing for Ignatian) have presented young people with an opportunity for service learning in the inner-city, combined with a prayerful and fun experience on JSC's parklike grounds -- not to mention its riverfront. All in all, a wonderful summer!

Throughout its nearly 80-year history, the Jesuit Spiritual Center has been a place of refreshment where people come not to disengage from the world, but to re-engage through prayer and quiet discernment. It has been a place to strengthen relationships with God, and to see His presence all around us in the everyday experiences of our worldly lives.

God is ever present, if only we stop a moment to listen.
