Paul Mueller, SJ
Fr. Paul Mueller, SJ is from Cincinnati, Ohio. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1982 after earning a BA in physics at Boston University. As a Jesuit he completed a master’s degree in philosophy, theology and divinity. After ordination in 1993, he earned an MA in physics and a Ph.D. in the interdisciplinary field of history and philosophy of science. Fr. Mueller was a philosophy professor at Loyola University Chicago for five years, and served as academic dean for two seminary programs.
Fr. Mueller was appointed religious superior of the Jesuit community at the Vatican Observatory in 2010. As a member of the Observatory’s research staff, he continues his own research and writing in history and philosophy of science and in related religion-science issues, residing at Castel Gandolfo and also in Tucson, Arizona.
