Fr. Peter Etzel, SJ is the pastor of Gesu Parish in Detroit. Born in Milwaukee, Fr. Etzel entered the Jesuits in 1983 after seven years as an editor in the sports department of The Milwaukee Journal. During regency, he taught in the Philippines. Since his ordination in 1994, Fr. Etzel has served in various pastoral ministries, including Vocations Director of the Wisconsin Province Jesuits, pastor of Gesu Parish in Milwaukee and director of the Sioux Spiritual Center in western South Dakota. He has given retreats on the Spiritual Exercises for almost 25 years.
