Who We Are
For over 90 years, the Jesuit Spiritual Center at Milford has enriched the spiritual life of those seeking God through prayer, reflection and quiet discernment. It is here that people come to strengthen their relationship with God, and to experience God’s presence in the everyday experiences of their lives.
Today the Center provides spiritual opportunities to over 14,000 people a year. The Ignatian Conference Retreats, that began in 1929, continue to offer a traditional, preached experience modeled on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. The 8-day Personally Directed Retreats offer retreatants a quiet, solitary time of introspection and prayer guided by an experienced spiritual director. The Center also offers a 30-day retreat for those individuals longing to fully engage the Spiritual Exercises in their lives and decisions.
The Center has a very vibrant youth ministry program. Building on the spiritual formation already undertaken by parents, parishes and schools, the JSC youth ministry team provides Catholic driven retreats for students grade K-12, traveling to schools, parishes or hosting them at the Center. Tens of thousands of youth have made retreats at the Jesuit Spiritual Center and upon leaving, many of them voice the same sentiment – they are encouraged that they are not alone, that others think and feel as they do, and are encouraged that in all their thoughts, questions and doubts, God is with them.
The Jesuit Spiritual Center also offers a spiritual direction internship program and the multi-use facilities provide rental venues for faith-based organizations to host their own retreats.
The Center seeks to promote spiritual refreshment to all who come, and likewise to impart to every retreatant and visitor that God is all around us, if only we pause a moment to listen and take notice.
