The Spiritual Exercises: Led by Ignatius, Xavier, and Arrupe

This retreat is a renewal through the study and intercession of Ignatius Loyola, Francis Xavier and Pedro Arrupe. Conferences are grounded in the Spiritual Exercises and encourages the retreatant through prayer, reflections on Scripture, and the sacraments. We seek to know how best to respond to the call of Jesus Christ and to follow Him in daily life.
Fr. Patrick Fairbanks, SJ
Fr. Fairbanks hails from Hamilton, OH and taught English and religion for many years in the US and overseas. Inspired by the life of Ignatius Loyola and Francis Xavier, he was led to enter the Society of Jesus in 1989. Fr. Fairbanks studied philosophy, classical languages, and theology at Loyola Chicago and Weston Jesuit School of Theology. Ordained a priest in 2000, Fr. Fairbanks worked in Chicago in campus ministry and Province vocations. He studied in Bolivia and Peru as part of his Spanish language training and tertianship experience. Fr. Fairbanks has served as spiritual director for Jesuits, candidates, students, and adults for twelve years. Having pronounced his final vows in 2009, Fr. Fairbanks spent seven years as pastor at St. Xavier Church in Cincinnati and now serves as superior of the Jesuit community in Chicago and Chaplain at St. Ignatius College Prep. Among other hobbies, he enjoys traveling, poetry, photography, astronomy, outdoor camping, country and classical music.
